Who we are

Mill Productions is the production wing of dlr Mill Theatre. We strive to create audience focused work from both the Irish and international repertoire that is engaging, considered and insightful.

Company Manager Karen Carleton produces this work with the talents and skills of established theatre practitioners, on stage and behind the scenes, together with those who are in the early stages of their careers.

Our home is in the dlr Mill Theatre, where we present a great variety of theatrical productions. In addition, we take some of those productions to other venues in the city and around the country.

What we do

Since its inception, Mill Productions has produced a wide variety of work, including the premiere of Irvine Welsh’s Babylon Heights, Love Letters starring David Soul and Jerry Hall, Faithful by Chazz Palminterri, Frank Pig Says Hello by Pat McCabe, God Of Carnage by Yazmina Reza and Good Evening Mr Collins by Tom MacIntyre.

In our education outreach, as part of the dlr Mill Theatre’s Education Programme, Mill Productions has presented plays from the works of Shakespeare including: Macbeth, Othello, King Lear, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.

Our work for younger audiences includes annual Christmas productions based on familiar stories – and also summer shows for younger audiences such as Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr Fox and The Twits.

How we work

Essential elements in our productions

Three important factors behind our approach to every show

Creative Teams

The people who work on our productions come from many different disciplines. The talents and skills assembled for each show are drawn from the expertise of a core creative team and other professional theatre practitioners.

Production Values

Attention to detail in every department ensures that all aspects of a show are delivered to the highest standard within the scope of each production – from those with the simplest setting to more ambitious presentations.

Audience Focus

Regardless of the type or scale of a production, the experience of those who come to see it is our primary concern. Our aim is to create enjoyable theatre, from a broad range of work, for an equally broad range of audiences.
