The first play on stage before an audience in dlr Mill Theatre since the pandemic restrictions began. Shakespeare’s play, centred on Othello’s passionate love for Desdemona, brings its happy beginning to a tragic end when deceitful Iago brings about the death of the once loving husband and wife and ultimately his own demise.
As the pandemic restrictions continued throughout 2021, Mill Productions added to its series of online video drama projects to support the teaching of Shakespeare plays in schools. This project on ‘Romeo and Juliet’, for senior cycle school students studying the Leaving Certificate English course, was recorded at dlr Mill Theatre in Dundrum in the second half of 2021.
In February 2021, Mill Productions launched a series of five short videos on Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’ for senior cycle school students studying for Leaving Certificate English. Recorded at the dlr Mill Theatre in Dundrum at the end of 2020, the director and three actors look at key scenes from the play, focusing on analysis, rehearsal and performance.
Mill Productions presents a new version of Romeo and Juliet in February 2020, directed by Geoff O’Keeffe. The abridged version is an ideal opportunity to introduce Junior Cycle students to their first theatrical performance of Shakespeare drama and one that they may be studying for their Junior Cycle English exam.
